Deep Blue Sea of Derawan Island

The Derawan Islands (Indonesian: Kepulauan Derawan) are in the province of East Kalimantan in Indonesia. They include Derawan, Sangalaki, Kakaban, Maratua, Panjang, and Samama Island and submerged reefs and islets. They are located in theSulawesi Sea, on the coastal shelf of East Kalimantan (2°17’N – 118°13’E). The islands are part of the Berau Regency. If you like adventure or extreme sport, you can dive at derawan with many diving spot. Around Derawan Island, at least 28 diving spot identified. To explore all of spots, youneed about 10 days with one dive at each spot. No wonder if Derawan Island become top three world class dive destinations and makes the Derawan as a dream Island for Divers. To move one spot to another, you can use speed boat or long boat (for 5 or more person). And you can explore the island by foot and watch green turtle laying eggs.
